Organization: Coggeshall Farm Museum

Positions Available:  2-3 students 

Schedule: Saturday and/or Sunday 8:30-4:30.   Students can split shift into less hours if necessary.

Position Overview

Coggeshall Farm Museum seeks a creative, forward thinking, and highly motivated person to serve in a work study position in Bristol, RI. Under the general supervision of the Executive Director at Coggeshall Farm Museum, the Farm education position will become part of the team of educators that lead activity stations at the farm. This position will assist with field trips, tours and public programs at the farm.  

In 2020, Coggeshall Farm Museum and Old Sturbridge Village entered into an innovative management partnership that leverages the capacity of OSV to support the administrative functions of CFM. Located on 48 acres of coastal farmland in Bristol, Rhode Island, CFM offers a glimpse of life on a salt marsh farm in the late 18th century, heritage breed animals and historic approaches to farming and gardening, and a diverse and changing landscape.

This position has a flexible schedule with some weekend hours during public events.

Qualifications

  • Interest in historic/outdoor education.
  • Interest in developing interactive education programs for students and the public.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences.
  • Must be organized as well as flexible, and able to be self-directed in prioritizing tasks and work.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and experience working on a team.
  • Must have the ability to flexible with the unexpected challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. 
  • Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

  • The Farm Education position will build and improve upon education curricula and execution of education goal.
  • Design and implement education opportunities for guests. 
  • This position will assist with creating, growing & evaluating the farm education program. Work with staff to assist with the creation of virtual educational content.
  • Promote diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.
  • Recruit Volunteers for educational events.
  • Other duties as required.
