BRISTOL, R.I. This fall might feel different compared to most others, but that doesn鈥檛 mean there aren鈥檛 still ways to have fun outdoors. Leaves are changing, the air is getting crisper, and the sun is setting earlier as students throughout the Bristol campus are finding ways to enjoy these final few long afternoons.

Down by the waterfront this past Friday, a group of sophomores were trying out the university鈥檚 new disc golf course. 鈥淔or me, this was actually the first time I鈥檝e played,鈥 said biology major Sam Herman.

鈥淗aving an 18-hole course at your school definitely helps a lot. Especially with COVID, it鈥檚 a great activity to get outside and do. It鈥檚 a great area, we鈥檙e right on the water.鈥

The course has only been open for two weeks, but it鈥檚 already found some regulars. 鈥淲e are all a part of the Ultimate Frisbee team here on campus,鈥 said communications and graphic design major Jerrod Medeiros. 鈥淭his is a great way to come out here and practice our throws.鈥

Further along the shell path, just between the trees, senior public health major Elsa Schloemer was setting up the newest ideal spot to catch up on a reading assignment. She had hung up her hammock between two trees, a new Friday afternoon tradition.

鈥淭his is a great place to get out and read,鈥 said Schloemer, her copy of The Spirit Catches You on the ground nearby. 鈥淚t鈥檚 really nice that we have our own little park area.鈥

Closer towards the center of campus there was music playing, the sunlight slowly dwindling. The turf field lights had been turned up bright as the women鈥檚 lacrosse team was warming up for practice. With all the cheering and laughter from the team, this fall day didn鈥檛 feel that different after all.
